we got 3rd in the inter shs captain's ball competition!! played 4 matches in total. 1st round: we were up against one of the nursing teams. we managed to win comfortably at 11-2.
2nd round: our 2nd opponent was another nursing team which had a very tall basketball guy in it. sarina was the ball catcher in the 1st half and no matter how we tried, we couldnt get the ball past the tall guy to sarina. the 1st half ended 1-0 in their favour. we changed our tactics during the second half and i went up to become the catcher. luck was not on our side. before we got our act together, they scored another goal. it was going to be an uphill battle from then on but we didnt gave up. we ran our heart out and finally managed to score 2 goals by looping the ball high over the tall guy which i was still able to catch ;) . from then on, we started pressuring and marking them from their own half of the court and got numerous attempts at goal. our effort finally paid off and we scored the 3rd goal! when i got hold of the 3rd goal, i was so happy that i slammed the ball onto the ground and shouted. tink that demoralised the tall guy in front of me a little bit...hehe. we defended our lead well and kept pressuring them until we won 6-2 in the end. we deserved our semi final place after such a hard fight!
semi finals: the DTs were going to be our next opponent. they werent very tall but we knew we had a hard fight on our hand because they were very fast. turned out that they were fast, aggresive (not in a bad way la), accurate and full of stamina...haha. they ran and ran and marked our players so closely that we couldnt receive the ball easily. the gers were already very tired from playing the previous tough match (we only had exactly 4 gers so cant substitute) that their off the ball movement were limited. the dt gers sure know how to shoot too. they looped the ball high over me for their catcher. we were putting up a good fight at first but as we got too eager to equalise, they counter attacked and scored a few more goals. by then we were already totally demoralised (sigh) and we lost the match 11-3. we werent too upset about the loss as huiping and yvonne injured themselves and the dts were really good. a pity we didnt meet the other nursing team in the semis or we could have gotten 2nd. guess we cant complained so much ya. spare a thought for the team the dts knocked out in the 1st round ;) .
3rd/4th placing: this was just a friendly match between the pt and us. we even had our lecturer amarjit to help us. all of us took turns to play and we all had fun. the scoreline was somewhere like 11-6 or something. didnt really notice as we were only out to have fun =)
all in all the captain's ball competition was very fun. even though i missed my beach day, i didnt regret it at all. i tink we did rg proud...haha. thanks to all my team-mates (esp the gers who had to play every minute of every game) for giving their all :)

i was itching to play beach volleyball so much that i went down to sunset bay alone to try my luck to find familiar faces to play with even though the mumbo peeps asked me to skate at bishan park. not much people was there but i was lucky to find a few people that i know. played a few games in all but i was the most satisfied with the last 2 on 2 game i played with steven. had a few good spikes and my first balls werent as bad as usual.
jeffrey and steven pulled me to play mahjong with them after dinner at samantha's house. 1st time playing mahjong at the house of someone i dont know. to cut the long story short, i had 2 amazing hus. one was a xiao san yuan ban se with 2 flowers. i had already pong hong zhong and bai ban and was going to bao fa cai. one fai cai was on the table already but steven played one fa cai not believing i had a xiao san yuan so he had to pay for everyone. luckily he had already won a lot. i would have play that fa cai if i were him also. 2nd was a ping hu very early in the game. that would be something quite normal. however i was waiting (ting) for only 7 bamboos so i couldnt win yet unless i draw the tile myself. jeffrey discarded a 7 bamboos but i didnt "chi" and discard another tile to ting pai. know what? i drew a 7 bamboos immediately. couldnt believe my luck :D . however the consequence of winning some money was a long and tiring day at school. never another overnight mahjong before a school day.
ps: sorry to those who dont understand mahjong ;) .
