back from mount ophir. it was really a disappointing trip. preparation wise, planning wise and attitude wise it was really bad. planning wise i dun want to mention coz i wasnt able to help as i was having my exams. preparation wise they are all "busy" ppl so they wasnt able to train so i will be understanding and wont blame them. but i was really disheartened(yes tats the word) by their attitude.
as i was so much faster than the rest of the group after coming down from summit to our base camp, i took only a sip of water b4 i started cooking lunch for the rest. i washed all the dirty mess tins from YESTERDAY dinner and started cooking lunch. when they came down, some ppl decided to take a bath in the stream so the rest of us ate first. when those ppl came to eat, i decided to go pack my bag so that we can break camp faster. after i packed my bag and came out of the tent i saw those ppl still sitting ard the meal area and chit chatting. so i went to relieve myself and when i came back they are in the tent packing their bags, leaving all the dirty mess tins there. i was damn pissed at this but i dun want to waste time so i went to help my friend wash all the mess tins. after washing the mess tins they were still packing their bags so i helped to wipe away the oil on the mess tins. by the time i finished wiping they have only just started on unpitching the tents so i went to help them again.
am i being taken for granted? i din even rest at all after the scaling the summit while they can bathe and chit chat and not wash their own utensils after eating. just because u're tired doesnt mean u can leave the dirty work to others. and isnt it ironic that u say mount ophir is too tough for the public(this is just a recce trip for the actual trip in june) when we saw a group of mainly 40 to 60 years old completing the journey. is it a factor of willpower or plain physical fitness? maybe its because of the high expectation i had. being experienced organisors of camps, i expected the trip to be more well-planned. having previous trekking experience, i expected them to be more fit. turned out that the 2 gers i brought last time was fitter when the only exercise they did was doing napfa. turned out that the planning was better done by a 19 yr old. yes...it must have been the high standards that have been set long time ago that made this trip disappointing. somehow i cant convince myself...
